In this book the Kyra Davis addresses April’s need for a “normal life,” but did she ever really want that or was Caleb right when he suggested that she just wanted to want it?

 


Do the characters seem real and believable? Can you relate to their predicaments? To what extent do they remind you of yourself or someone you know?

How does April change or evolve throughout the course of the story? What events trigger such changes?

In what ways do the events in the books reveal evidence of the author’s opinions about independence, family relationships and commitments?


Did certain parts of the book make you uncomfortable? If so, why did you feel that way? Did this lead to a new understanding or awareness of some aspect of your own life you might not have considered before?

There is a lot of humor in this book, did that enhance or detract from the serious subject matter of the novel? Did the humor make the story more or less believable?

How did Bobe’s experiences in Germany affect the nature of the relationships between the three generation of women (Bobe, her daughter Kate and April)?

Did April make the right decision in the end? Why or why not? Would you have stayed in the marriage? Would you have started a relationship with Jeremiah?
